Welcome to the NICU at Mercy Health Saint Mary's

Visitation | Family-Centered Care | During Your Stay | Definition of Terms | Team of Experts | Online Resources

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Mercy Health Saint Mary's Campus provides critical care to the tiniest premature infants, multiple births, sick newborns or any baby requiring specialized newborn care. The interdisciplinary NICU team includes neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, skilled NICU nurses, respiratory therapists and speech therapists. Medical social workers help our families deal with the stress emotions and other concerns of having a baby in the NICU. Certified Lactation counselors will provide breastfeeding education and support to breastfeeding NICU Moms. Pastoral Care rounds on NICU families to provide spiritual guidance, prayer and moral support.

Family-Centered Care is practiced in the NICU. Our goal is to facilitate visitation and bonding with your baby as you and your baby are able. We encourage and support your active participation in planning and giving your baby's care.

The NICU is located on the 8th Floor of the Main Hospital building at 200 Jefferson Ave. SE in downtown Grand Rapids.

To contact the NICU by phone call: 616-685-6475 or toll free at 1-877-752-6475.
