Clinica Santa Maria
Clinica Santa Maria provides primary health care to the Hispanic
community's homeless, underserved and working poor. The clinic
is staffed by 30 volunteer physicians and a bilingual staff.
Prenatal and well child services as well as gynecological,
obstetric, pregnancy and postpartum services are provided
Monday through Friday. Clinica Santa Maria also serves the
migrant population of Grand Rapids year-round for chronic
conditions such as diabetes and arthritis.
Clinica Santa Maria operates under a health care model offering
an integrated system of comprehensive and continuous service
delivery including: counseling/testing, primary medical care,
consulting physicians (volunteers), primary care nursing,
referrals to community resources, support services and extensive
outreach/education.
The staff at Clinica Santa Maria are often called upon as
experts to speak on issues regarding the Hispanic community
and health care. Clinica Santa Maria and its staff have received
the following awards: YMCA Women's Tribute, Henrietta Villaescusa
Award for Community Service and the Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. Community Service Award (MDPH).
