Operations Career Path
Security Officer
Follows established procedural guidelines to provide a safe
and secure environment for staff, patients and visitors. Enforces
all hospital policies, Federal and State statues, and local
ordinances within the context of their legal limitations.
Provides security services and support to Saint Mary’s
Community Healthcare System through adequate protection of
hospital property and safety for patients, employees and visitors.
- High School diploma or equivalent GED required.
- One-year applicable security experience or one year college
level courses in the criminal justice (Law enforcement)
or security related field of study is required.
- Ability to patrol interior and exterior of hospital complex
including all departments, floors, parking lots and other
off-site locations where security services are provided,
or requested.
- Ability to communicate and articulate with all internal
and external customers.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, maintains accurate
records, and work with many interruptions.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Communicate effectively in person, on the telephone or
written.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times and
exercise independent judgement. Required to enforce all
applicable parking policies and write violations as needed
to maintain adequate parking for patients, staff and visitors.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts,
draw conclusions and recommend appropriate remedial actions.
Write daily activity and security incident reports.
